Professional Statement
Dr. Swender, a Marshall native, joined the Oaklawn medical staff in 2012. He received his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed his residency and served as chief resident in Pediatrics at nationwide children’s Hospital/Doctors Hospital in Columbus, OH. After completing residency, he pursued an Allergy/Immunology fellowship at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland.
He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Allergy/Immunology. He is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the Michigan Asthma and Allergy Society. He is involved in the exam writing committee for the Osteopathic Pediatric/Adult Allergy and Immunology Board exam. He sees both adults and children for a variety of allergic and immunologic conditions, including allergies, asthma, food allergies and immunodeficiency.

What a kind man Dr Swender is. I'd had a non helpful, uncomfortable and very confusing experience with an allergy Dr in B.C. My best friend has been a patient there for several years and she was finally getting the help she needed. Both my Drs told me he was an excellent Dr and neither had heard anything negative. I felt comfortable with everyone in the office, they all care and show it. Nothing previously given me really did much, not sure why my breathing and sinuses are so bad. I feel confident Dr Swender will figure it out. Thank you so much! It means so much to me and everyone you see, I'm certain.

I have finallly found a Dr that is finding the root of my problem and you are getting rid of him! I am very disappointed that Dr Swender will be leaving the Oaklawn group. He has been very thorough with my care!

Was wanting to be tested to get answers about my health but after 20 years and a 3 month wait I get to sit down and cry because all the dr wanted to do was a nurse job and bashed me about stress. Trying to push medicans without doing a single test. No thank you!
